I grew up in that area. It’s beautiful, school system is solid, nice small town feel. Pricey though!

The only knock on the place is that it doesn’t have a high walk score waterfront village. You basically have whatever the Mattapoisett Inn is called now…. The Inn on Shipyard Park. And a not very functional general store. Shopping means a drive to Wareham, Fairhaven, or the Market Basket in New Bedford.

As a boat owner, it’s not a very protected harbor. For sailing, Cuttyhunk is dead upwind and part of Buzzards Bay is really choppy in the afternoon.

If I had kids in public schools, it would be my first choice on the South Coast.

I grew up in wareham the crappier town east of it but then lived there with friends from the tri town for around 6 years. Mattapoisett is special and beautiful and chill and I can’t wait to move back one day. Kids are spoiled cause it’s a rich town but it’s such a great place between being right on the ocean, Mattapoisett harbor is great, you’re not far from Boston or providence, New Bedford is up in coming in the downtown area for some night life and Mattapoisett has woods as well. School system one of the best in the state, and the inn at shipyard park is an awesome historic restaurant and Inn. On the go is the best sandwich place around and Turks seafood is the best seafood/sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to.

Have lived in NB all my life, have had several relatives living in Mattapoisett. It’s a nice little town with its share of bureaucracy. There are families that have been there for generations but there is also a lot of new blood as of late and unfortunately an uptick in seasonal homes.

Generally it’s peaceful, has a decent town beach and is close enough to Fairhaven for shopping needs and Downtown NB for culture and nightlife. Good luck!
