Doubtful it'll melt overnight. Going to shovel before it freezes and becomes harder to remove.

If you have no where to go tomorrow maybe just make a sidewalk path and then let it be. Shoveling it will just leave exposed surface to freeze overnight but if you have to go to work in the morning you’ll probably want to shovel a bit tonight

In the Southampton / Easthampton area, we hardly received anything. But I did shovel it because the slush we did have would likely freeze tonight.

It is the type of stuff that looks like black ice, only slush because at first glance it does not look like there is anything out there. But I lifted more than a few shovels full, from the nearly "see-through" slush, and I am glad I did.

It’s getting down into the low 20s tonight bud, you’re gonna wanna shovel as much as you can or else you’ll have a layer of rock hard snow/ice.

Worcester area - we’ve got a thin layer of crunchy snow, a good layer of ice and now a heavy layer of heavy wet on top. Have to shovel but also have to avoid the trees that are breaking from the extra weight

Yeah even if it doesn't stop I think it's better to shovel so you can salt and make it easier on yourself to clean up tomorrow if needed.

I shoveled tonight just because I'm horrified of it freezing on the sidewalk and an early morning person going for a walk falling and taking me for everything i own.

Shoveled first thing this morning for the mail carrier, primarily. 5-7:30 pm the whole frontage and driveway and neighbor’s steps.

May hit up the front porch steps tomorrow morning for the mail carrier.

I shoveled it would to heavy to wait and no guarantee that it’s going up melt enough on Thursday.

Waiting and seeing

Last week, so many people in this sub were saying "There's still plenty of time for snow to come and accumulate."

Yeah, it might snow, but it will warm up a few days afterwards, or we'll get precipitation in the form of rain. No lakes / ponds are freezing over; skiing, snowshoeing, dogsledding--never even had a season.

Got about 5 inches here. I did the driveway. It was a good first run of the season for my old snowblower.

In the 40s tomorrow, going to wait it out.

I cleaned the driveway this morning at about 8. there was about 3 inches of slush. Went out to do some errands and by the time I got back the precipitation had pretty much stopped (noon). It started snowing like a bastard at about 3 and kept going until about 5 which left another 3 inches but I had decided to wait until the morning to deal with it.

UNTIL I SAW THIS THREAD !!! Then I started panicking that it was going to freeze over night and my driveway wouldn't be clean again until April.

So I went out and started the snow blower. I would have been fine waiting. The 3 - 4 inches that was out there was just fluff here in North Central Mass.

Oh well, it only took me about 45 minutes and now I can stay in tomorrow morning and enjoy my coffee.

ADDED SURPRISE BONUS: Some mystery snowplower cleaned out the end of my driveway where the town trucks left their mess after I cleaned up this morning. Holy shit that was a nice thing to do.

Shoveled enough so my daughter could pull her car in to the driveway, but I quit when the snow started sticking to the shovel. Back at it tomorrow!

Well it looked like it was snowing pretry damn hard in Holyoke but it barely stuck around. Theres a light coating of frosty snow on my driveway and sidewalk but a few hours of sunshine will eat it right up.

I cleared one car, the lower roof and the driveway last night. Cleared the cars again this morning. I'm undecided on clearing the upper roof. 2 inches forecast for tomorrow so I'm not sure.

Did you move into your house recently? I used to have a mystery snow plower even though I often did my own shoveling before they came. Turned out the previous homeowner never cancelled their contact. I got a bill at the end of the season even for the days when I shoveled the whole thing myself. Hopefully that’s not the case for you and if not, that is a very lovely surprise!!!

What we want is for temps to stay below zero for weeks at a time--like it used to be. What we have is rain, rain, snow, high temps, melt.

and if you can't kill ticks with fire, kill then with deep persistent cold. with this kind of winter, ticks just sent their alarm clock for mid February.

Was a time when tickets weren't north of southern CT because Winter temps kept them out.
