Hey everyone! My neighbor runs a dog rescue center in Hopkinton called the Brown Dog Coalition and she’s been having some trouble finding fosters/adoptees recently. If anyone is looking to foster or adopt a dog, PM me and I can send you details about the organization and contact info.

We adopted our pup through them! We might be able to foster.

Do you have an average foster time? I know it can vary from dog to dog.

Good luck this sub is mostly for complaining about dog owners and people saying “dog owners are the worst”

Use caution when adopting dogs that come from down south. Often, they test negative for heartworm initially. Then the next time you have them checked they are positive because heartworm can lie dormant in the early stages and not show up on a test.

This happened to a friend of mine. Not the end of the world but it cost him about $2000 for the treatment otherwise the dog would have suffered and died.

He loved the dog and took care of him and kept him. This was about a decade ago.

I'm just saying... get pet insurance right away.

We had a foster for 3 months. It has probably slowed down as people return to work in the office. Potential adopters have probably decreased In availability. On top of that , potential adopters had already reached their personal limit of two dogs in the home. That was a common response I received in that people did not want to take any in more dogs.

I have two large dogs and a cat already so fostering an unknown dog/cat could be problematic.

I wish we could help! We have 3 adopted rescues already and 2 of them were fosters first!

Looks like mostly pit mixes. That’s why people don’t want them.

Exactly. I really hope people stop intentionally breeding them. There are so many in shelters to begin with.
