Remote meetings with government offices are actually things that are put in place months in advance and are not determined on a weekly or daily basis. Even if the cases in your area are low right now, the chances are that in June or even last January the measure was put in place for any given government office and they will follow that rule until the time period expires.

For Social Security, often there are vulnerable people (chronically ill, immune compromised) who receive benefits, so remote meetings work best for those people. If you're not in that demographic, it's more convenient for you anyway to have a meeting with someone over the phone. You're saving gas, you don't even have to put on pants. Any reason why you would prefer going in to an office than just having a phone or video call?

And you answered, 'no, I don't watch the news, why would I do that? I like being ignorant of what goes on around me.'

Did you say you thought covid was over to be snarky or did you really think it was eliminated?

Some think it never existed! If 2020 taught us ANYTHING it should be that willful ignorance is still our #1 threat as a country
