Car had been sitting for about almost a year. I parked it in around November of 2021 to fix some things (replace glass, door, body work etc). Finally went to get it inspected in august of 2022 and it failed, so I had 60 days to fix it, but I’ve been busy. Finally did some front end work to pass (past the 60 days) and went in knowing I’d be paying $35 again. Seems like I passed but they only gave me a sticker until 1/23, so 2 months? And then I have to go in and pay $35 again? Feeling nickel and dimed here. Told this is is the new rules but this seems different than missing the date and losing a month on your sticker.

They’re really sticking to the new rule. If the RMV can do ONE thing right, it’s guarantee their revenue streams.

This is correct under the new rules.

If you get your sticker in the same calendar year that it expired (example expired in June and you reinspect in Nov) then the new sticker will now be dated to the expiration date, not the date inspected. So your new sticker in my example will still be June.

If your sticker expired in the previous calendar year, then your new sticker will be January of the current calendar year and expiring the following January. So you got a January 2022 sticker set to expire January 2023.

Sorry man.

Yep, these are the new rules. Should have just left it until next year.

Guess they missed the part about the vehicle being off the road for repairs. It’s really going to suck for cars that are stored.

I had an inspection done last week and they mentioned the shops are being recorded by the state doing the inspections now.

Nope middlesex county, right on 495. And if you get caught the fine is like $50 so 🤷

I have really bad ADHD, so honestly I just keep forgetting about it. New-ish car, I'm not really worried about anything
