I saw a doc at MGH who wasn’t great but after trying to see a different person at Brigham they just told me I already saw the one at MGH and they don’t want to go against their colleague or whatever. I want someone who will actually give me a true second opinion and not withhold stuff because they don’t want to go against their colleague. I don’t want them to have the info that I saw someone else so I wanted to know if anyone knows if Beth Israel or Tufts have a way of seeing my record from Mass General/Brigham.

Any doc that said that should be reported

Beth Israel/Lahey has totally different IT infrastructure from Massachusetts General-Brigham. They can’t see any information in the other IT system. The same is true with Tufts. Your insurance company knows who who you are seeing. The health networks don’t share information.

MGH and Brigham are sister hospitals, so yes they can see your records at each one, but that doc is full of it

I think medical records can only be shared if you sign for it.For instance Berkshire Medical center bought out Adams internists but Adams internists ,but we were all notified and had to sign that we were ok with Berkshire Medical having our medical records.

Hospitals and Dr's offices may shared your records but it all be given in writing and you sign.

If you read your patient paperwork from Mass Gen/Brigham&Women's hospital national triad it must show what other hospitals it shares with in writing with your signature.Check your paperwork.

I'm pretty sure your free to see Beth Israel,Tufts,Boston Medical,New England Baptist ,UMass medical Worcester or whomever without MGH/B&W ever knowing .

The Leahy Clinic in Burlington is good too.

MGH and Brigham are both part of the Partners network.

I have looked at the website ,no evidence of MGH/B&W associated with other greater Boston Hospitals.

GO to UMass Worcester if it makes you feel safer but legally they can't share your records without your consent. You nothing to worry about.

WTF! Another example of how medicine is going down the tubes. Advocate for yourself and tell them you want to see another doctor. Try Beth Israel too. I would be concerned that with that comment they gave you, if any second opinion doctor associated with them would not just reaffirm the first dr anyways. Speak to the administrator if it comes to that.

I think Lahey/Beth Israel are affiliates. Tufts is their own entity but I think they do occasionally do cross-work with MGH

The two systems merged in 2019.

Beth Israel (was formerly called Caregroup - there are a number of BI hospitals) and Lahey Health which was the main hospital in Burlington and a few others.

Beth Israel is not part of partners or now know as Mass General Brigham. I am unsure about Tufts.

MGH and Brigham are under the same umbrella group, Mass General Brigham, formerly called Partners. Tufts Medical Center and Boston Medical Center (BU) are not part of that group.

Beth Israel and Lahey Clinic teamed up, now called Beth Israel Lahey Health, also not part of Mass General Brigham (Partners).
