I thought he was retiring?

No way. He’s not insane enough for the party of trump and he’s still a republican so he wouldn’t do well enough with Dems.

Don’t think so. Doesn’t seem to me he is a household name across the whole country. I used to live in Texas and you’ve heard more of Elizabeth Warren, Liz Cheney, as possible center candidates.

I could see him taking a post in a D administration or a moderate R one.

He’s to moderate for both parties. He doesn’t stand a chance winning a primary.

Peeeculiar t1_iv0g3x8 wrote

Nope. He has no interest in following in the footsteps of crazy and then useless.

Not in the current political climate.

If the Republicans somehow swing more moderate in the next few years, he might reconsider. But I truly think he feels he doesn't have a real place as a leader in the current party, but could not bring himself to switch to the Democrats. I also think he's aware enough to know that he would not have a great shot as an Independent running for President.

No, he is a Republican at a time where you need to be super right and believe in asinine conspiracies to have any chance for votes in primary.

Baker is one of those candidates who could only survive in the better educated States as a Republican.. He's not so radical that he's going to push his own agenda against the will of the general population.

As a recovering Republican who is now an independent, I think he would actually be good at the national level, but he would never get elected because He's too competent for the Republican party on a national level.

I wish he would as he has been great for MA and represents a middle ground /reasonable

stance on most things. I don't think that he wants the aggravation of being President though

so I really don't think he will run. I suspect he is done with politics. The climate in this country

is too crazy.

Nope.

Also, he doesn't have an ounce of the needed charisma. The guy looks and sounds like if Lurch was a Masshole...

Now i wanna imagine an alternate reality where he runs as a moderate third party and saves the USA.

Gawd I hope not. One of his last acts as Mass Governor was to make Stimulus checks become Tax rebates! That basically stole from the poorest of the poor, who were unemployed, disabled, or didn't make enough to even PAY taxes. so they'll get nothing.

Only his rich buddies benefited.

Right after he stole from the poor, he promoted the tax-free holiday. What a stab in the back.

I liked him before he pulled that crap.
