I divide Massachusetts into thirds.
- West border to Springfield = Western Mass.
- Springfield to Worcester = Central Mass.
- Worcester to Coast + Cape = Eastern Mass

This is entirely arbitrary, but growing up north of Worcester, I always thought of Worcester as centered in Central MA. But I also didn't realize as a kid that Western MA goes that far. Your boundaries divide the state more evenly.

Western mass on the border with CT includes all of Hamden county your not in central MA until you hit Warren.WMass is all of and no more than Hamden,Hampshire,Franklin and Berkshire counties
