Passage to India is great. Wish more like that were in MetroWest. Sudbury has a good similar one called Soul of India, but Passage is better

I used to think I knew the good Indian restaurants, but my Indian friend let me know that they were all garbage.

Can't remember the names of the places he suggested, but it was a very short list.

What if your Indian friend has garbage taste in Indian food? Sort of the equivalent to your American friend telling you that the 99 is the best American restaurant.

Haha I don't have any American friends that say that.

Him and his wife have cooked for me and also we've gotten takeout from the places he talked about. Significantly better. Really it came down to the sauces and flavors. Way more balanced flavor and also less oily. I came to realize most Indian restaurants around here are a much more fast food version of Indian food.

My favorite out of the limited few I've tried has been Priya in Chicopee. Their chicken Tikka Masala is usually very good! Other dishes have also been good and they have a buffet at lunch time.

I don’t know how authentic it is but we love the Tikki Masala from Norwood Spice in, well, Norwood.

Best Saturday lunch buffet I found in Godavari in Woburn. And there are lots of good items. Really loved their Ghee Pongal. Also P&D Mart in Lowell has good snacks. Nawabi Hyderabad House in Framingham is also a good restaurant.

I like Punjabi Dhaba (Cambridge) and Masala (Somerville). I live by Arlington for 3 days a week and I have about 20 Indian restaurants within 20 mins…been to 6 of them so far. I live by the Cape on the weekends and I think Golden Swan is solid but not great, I think the two places that I listed are better. I think Ayur Shri in Dartmouth is decent, the takeout time there is ridiculously long though.

Tried them all. Priya's in Lowell and Chicopee serve insipid food. Honest is ok for snacks. Biryaniz and Breadz in Lowell is ok for north and south Indian.

Ritu ki rasoi is a hole in a wall that serves good parathas.

I always ask this question of my Indian colleagues. After insisting there simply isn't any good Indian food anywhere in the US, some will concede: Hot Breads in Framingham, Honest in Lowell, and EggMania, also in Lowell.

Yeah I remember having Indian food in London and was really good, was only 12 at the time, but been hooked ever since. Just haven’t found an equivalent. Most likely not the same as India, but this is the only gauge I have to go by

I grew up in Northern ireland so ,like you , I am more used to the British/Irish type of Indian food. Technically not MA, but Bollywood Grill in Cumberland RI is fantastic. Their chicken korma and chicken Tikka masala are so good...
