Ego can carry folks through most trials in life fairly successfully, until confronted with a situation that cannot be resolved. When confronted with terminal illness of a parent, the ego had to die and a realization was made that not all things can be fixed. This song is about ego death, and the self reflection and depression that inevitably follows.
