Take the light rail to the southern end of Bayonne. Walk the length of the Bayonne Bridge, over to Staten Island. It's a 3 mile walk round trip on the pedestrian lane.

I love to call out Port Authority's shit as much as the next guy, but they actually did a pretty nice job with the ped/bike path on the Bayonne Bridge. Nice wide path and great views.
