My sister is coming into town tomorrow for her birthday and is requesting peking duck. Is there a restaurant on this side of the river that makes a great one? I see a few coming up on Google but it‘s the kind of thing I don’t want to fly blind on. Ideally JC or Hoboken, but willing to drive a little farther if it’s a damn good duck.

I will also take NYC duck recommendations, but am hoping to keep it local. Local luxury duck. Thank you for any and all help!

Jiang Nan serves a pretty solid version. If you're willing to travel though, definitely recommend Decoy or Hutong in NYC.

Jiang Nan is the best on this side of the river. Was a little surprised when it came out with pineapple chunks (on the side), but it works quite well

Was just at Decoy recently and honestly their quality has gone down since pre-covid. Not saying they don’t still have a decent Peking Duck but imo definitely not anything special anymore.

There is a place called Uluh in lower east side NYC and their PD is fantastic. Highly recommend.

Same for me, twice this year and both not great at that price point. Seeking new places as well.

Agreed to Jiang Nan. The Peking duck very good but their other dishes a bit disappointing.

i know it's not exactly what you're looking for but 99 ranch has everything you need to do this yourself. get the extra dry duck, you can cut it yourself if you are good with a knife and are picky about making like the restaurant style, otherwise ask them to cut and take the bones out by hand.

the buns are in the freezer, scallions in produce, cucumbers in produce, sweet bean paste is in a can.

Cantonese roast duck has absolutely nothing to do with Peking Roast Duck.

which is the one that comes with pineapple chunks because that seems to be the alternative option here in jc?

all joking aside i find them quite similar but it sounds like you have more discerning tastes which is fair enough

Ping's in NYC Chinatown. You might have to call ahead and reserve the duck in advance though!
