The people who believed the realtor when they were told “it’s just like Brooklyn” and now realize they are basically paying NYC prices to live in a suburb? JC is not the deal it was 15 years ago.

The comment just wasn't realistic. I've never heard anyone argue that the path wasn't primarily a commuter rail.

Also, 3% of our combined income isn't chump change, so yeah we've saved a lot by living here instead of NYC.

I find the real estate taxes anywhere in Jersey wipe out the 3% income tax - it's not exactly the same but it can be close.

That being said, living in Hamilton Park/Van Vorst approximates Brooklyn Heights or Cobble Hill at 50% of the price (if buying).

1
