I have seen a couple cats near the holland tunnel, crossing the street from St. Lucy’s church & shelter to my Mexico 2 go. Curious as to whether there’s any colony caretakers established here? I saw a dead kitten in the street not long ago, right in that intersection of grove & 15th street. (Yellow light means slow down Smh) Really want to see if anyone knows anything about a colony there, and if not I would step in

I know someone who's recently done some TNR work in that area and might be able to help with this... but not sure if they're on Reddit. Shoot me a DM and I'll connect you.

Just dmed you back! Thanks so much, these cats looked young so hopefully we can still save them from the streets ❤️ and any abandoned ones fixed & rehomed!

TNR doesn't work. We keep seeing these efforts pushed, but they are never broad enough, never well funded enough. Cat populations keep exploding. These ferals aren't pets. The ones that can't be adopted need to be put down. Sorry but it's the truth, unless someone is willing to set up a dedicated piece of land just to rehome the cats in.

I regularly walk on 16th street past the shelter & rarely see any cats towards there. If there's a colony it must be mainly on that Grove St block closer to 15th St, or maybe they just try to avoid all the truck traffic on 16th St / 14th St.

They’re literally all over the place in McGinley Sq, not uncommon to see in this town
