I know a lot of people pay to live in the zone of PS16, but their houses are not zoned to any middle schools. Just curious where their children attend after elementary school?

Wait PS 16 is no longer grades 6-8? When did that happen?
What if you don’t want to move though?

🤷🏻♂️ never known anyone that had their kids stick around that long.
It's the circle of life.
You need a wider circle of acquaintances. I raised my kids here, they went to LCCS & McNair and got fantastic educations.
There’s definitely some good high schools in the area (in addition to what you said); County Prep, Hud Tech, throw Saint Peters in there etc.
I’ve been here in Hudson County for about 15 years, most of my friends took off to the burbs during the pandemic that had kids. Sadly looks like I’ll be following suite in the new year.
LCCS, Infinity, Academy I, Beloved, Explorer, Conti, Conwell, I'm sure I'm forgetting some/don't know some.
HS: County Prep, High Tech High, Infinity, Liberty, McNair. That new tech school in LSP will be open in a few years (probably). You can go to Hoboken as it is a magnet for Hudson County, which has a very good AP program.
Some of the local Catholics are also good (both in the JC area and NYC). If you're in Paulus Hook, chances are the privates are also an option.
2/3 to 3/4 of PS16 graduates end up in one of these 4 programs: AEP either at 4 or Academy 1; Infinity; or Explore.
About 2010.
All the families we know that moved out, moved out when the kids were very young. Pretty much everyone in my daughter's class, and the classes of other kids we know in different schools stayed and are now going to HS.
oh interesting, it seems like I was part of the last graduating class then lol
Pretty much our experience with a few exceptions. We knew one family that moved when their eldest didn't get into one of the magnet high schools.
We have zero regrets about staying in Jersey City. Our kids were extremely well prepared for college and had multicultural experience that cannot be replicated elsewhere. In fact one of my few regrets is my kids as teens did not take advantage of the proximity to New York City to the extent that I had hoped! My son would hop on a train to Harriman instead of a train into The Village!
A third Academy 1, a third MS4 AEP and the rest between regular MS4, Infinity, Explorer and others. Academy 1 has the blue ribbon award and high published scores, but I'm not convinced its better than MS4 AEP enough to be worth the hike. DM me if you have questions.
LSC’s new school will have which grades?
It will be high school.
A long time ago. Around 2010.
I went to ps 16.. I remember it only having 400 students from k to 8.
Now it's I believe second or third grade(not sure what grades are at the new annex) and like 500 students.
Thank you
