I’ve lived all over the country and briefly in Mexico City. Jersey City is by far the most unsafe I’ve ever felt as a pedestrian.

Including Florida? Cause I feel way safer walking in JC than there. The idea of yielding to a pedestrian in a crosswalk does not exist there, plus the average speed limit is more like 45 than 25.

I’ve never lived in Florida but had plenty of instances here where I’m halfway across an intersection in the crosswalk and a car flies by me.

She’s definitely an asshole who should have stopped but she didn’t cause the accident I don’t know what she has to do with this.

Acknowledge that someone who runs from the scene of a accident is unfit the represent the city with the best interest of its residents in mind and resign from her position.

Um sure I never said otherwise. This article is about traffic deaths though which is my point.

I know, right? She didn't even stop to make sure she finished the guy off.

That kind of laziness is inexcusable for an elected leader.

The law says she has an obligation to not operate her vehicle in an unsafe manner or impact other persons or property.

This is black and white: she broke the law. Stop victim blaming.

possums101 t1_j2bxkot wrote

At no point did I imply in this thread she didn’t break the law. She obviously did. Her charges have nothing to do with the crash itself because she wasn’t at fault. Cyclist ran a red light that’s just a fact. The crime she committed was never even stopping to check if the guy is okay.

Someone running a red light doesn’t make hitting someone legal.

They’re going after the more serious charges. If those don’t stick, they can try for the others. That’s how NJ does it. The crime with the steeper penalties take priority.

I think some political group (Republicans, or Solomonites, if the Solomonites are actually separate from the Republicans) is just spamming the board with anti-DeGise stuff, then mass downvoting anyone who dares to stand up to them, for the sake of politics.

They legitimately think the amy circle jerk on this sub contributes anything other than spamming and annoying every one on this sub

It’s hard to tell what people’s motives are. If you’re really a regular independent person who’s furious about the hit and run and starts downvoting people, OK.

But it just feels as if the volume of anti-DeGise posts, and the mass downvoting of anyone with a slightly different perspective, are too high to be natural.

The county is doing all sorts of terrible things. It’s letting the state, Brian Stack and Paul Fireman pave over and ruin Liberty State Park, for example. And it’s crushing High Tech. But all we hear about is the hit and run, never anything about the bad things the county and state are doing. Probably because the Republicans running the organized anti-DeGise campaign are best friends with Fireman.

What I hate most is the mass downvoting. They’re just a bunch of bullies who can’t tolerate dissent of any kind.
