Really though- those 3 (you select 3 on the ballot) are against future tax increases and more transparency for how these funds get used (there’s currently no transparency). If the people who raised our taxes see that there are no consequences, then they’ll 100% do it again.

One of the Change for Children candidates did an AMA 2 weeks ago on this sub if you want to learn more. The guys name, no joke, is Alexander Hamilton.

That is great news! If everyone who was eligible to vote voted then the BOE would be forced to be accountable for their mismanagement. Most people take issue with a 15% to 35% increase in the tax levy with nothing to show for it. Less apathy. More action.

Yes I agree that good schools in NJ is why the misinformation isn't as rampant in this state bc people are educated. I'd like there to be more a developer tax for people putting in luxury buildings.

Wouldn't it be great if they didn't come up with bullshit names for interest groups?

That's true but I don't trust real estate, period. I don't think they have the public school system's beat interest at heart. I don't think they have the public's best interest either. Just $$. Low property taxes for the buildings they own and high rents for the tenants who live there.

Problems with the public school system stem from a whole bunch of shit. I'd rather try to sort it out with the people who teach my kids, not the people gentrifying my city and evicting families

If taxes keep increasing, gentrification would actually accelerate and working class families would in fact be forced out. The Board of Education can’t do side deals with developers to only lower their taxes. They can only set the budget and then everyone poor and rich alike gets charged the same percentage unless the property has an abatement. High taxes would also force the rents up.

Funny how it's always those that pay the least amount of taxes demand others to pay their "fair share"
