Ok. So if it costs $15-20k you’re out $5-10k. Got it. But those are your tax dollars “reimbursing” you so yea. There we go

Sounds like you still didn’t read the article.
If homeowners choose not to opt out of the program, then their lead service line will be replaced at zero cost to them part of a program that’s largely being funded with state and federal grants.

Sorry. I was being awfully too pragmatic. You’re right. In order to sell my house without paying $15-20k to replace service line, I’ll have to wait until the city gets around to doing the work for me which will then allow me to sell my house without a penalty essentially. So I’m on the city’s clock on this. Sounds like a great deal. I’ll wait for them to fix the schools while I’m at it too!

Where are you getting the $15-20k replacement cost from?
Newark is spending about $7k per service line replacement.
