In the mood for some of Xi'an's spicy lamb curry noodles or their delicious spicy sour dumplings, but dont feel like taking the path to NYC.

Anyone know if there are any alternatives to Xi'an Famous foods restaurant in JC/Hoboken?

I wouldn’t say it’s a direct alternative but Taste of North China in JC has spicy cumin lamb or beef which is similar in flavor to food at Xi’an; it’s my husband’s favorite Chinese dish and he rates theirs pretty highly (note, we’re not remotely Chinese and cannot guarantee authenticity. We just like eating.)

Was actually thinking of trying them today and went for a Gigi's halal instead lol. They're definitely on my list

Their spicy cumin lamb is my recommendation as well. Their fried eggplant is really good too. Its pricey but hits the spot when im craving xi'an.

i will tell you without a doubt that there is not, i'm sorry. if it makes you feel better i even email XFF to try and get a location here, maybe if enough people do it?

no one's noodles are close here.

Hey I'm down to shoot them an email! Wonder if we can get a petition going... Feel like an XFF would be huge in DT JC and maybe even JS JC

Yup, just be nice about it. Last time the owner replied and explained it was a tough time during the pandemic and they were just trying to keep their existing locations afloat which I get

Unfortunately no. You can buy meal kits from their website and it takes 15mins to cook. https://xiankits.com/collections/meal-kits

Another interesting fact: The owner is the ex of Xiao Wen Ju, a Xi’an-born top model who walked Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

One of the pandemic delivery companies had those kits for awhile, they're pretty good. Wish there was a local vendor for them.

i totally forgot about this. the meal kit was really easy and incredibly close in flavor (and texture) to the real thing i was super shocked

the reality is even when i am in the city i can't always eat it in store so i don't always get to eat it at its peak. with the meal kit you actually get to have like 95% of the in store experience

i literally just ordered, it's free shipping and the cost per plate is the same as in store lol

Spice Spirit has cumin lamb, but it’s served over rice.
