If you check the current ratings for 3 Journal Sq. on Google you’ll see they have a 4.6/5 which I think it’s one of the highest in the city and well deserved. It may not be perfect but it’s a great complex. The amenities I mostly use are the gym, rooftop and resident lounge and they’re quite nice and maintained for a building of this size; amenity fee is $500 per lease term (one time payment / not billed monthly).

yup totally agree, in your experience is the gym good? i saw that there was a blink fitness (never tried) right around the journal square. Does the 3 Jsq gym have free weights/barbells and is it super crowded by any chance during evenings? I am thinking of skipping amenities if use the gym outside, do you think i will miss out on something?

The gym to me is fine if you just want a casual workout; a HUGE step above a hotel gym but not as comprehensive as a regular gym. There’s a good selection of cardio equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes and stair climber), 2 cable machines, about 4 weight machines, a Smith and dumbells up to 50lbs. Sadly no actual squat racks or barbells ( there is a trap bar though). Like any other gym it’ll be full at around 6-8am / 5-7pm weekdays but since this isn’t a large building the definition of full to me is having 5-6 people in there. Please note that even if you opt-out of using any amenities you still have to pay the fee…so you might as well use them to some extent.

thank you for helping out, just one last question if you don’t mind, the view from the available ap currently at 3 jsq is of some path trains- is it super noisy?

My apartment faced the northern side of the building so I didn’t get the direct train noise but could sill hear them entering / leaving the station with windows open. Good news is that the sound proofing on the windows is pretty good and if you keep them closed you’ll be able to ignore it. Surprisingly, unless you have very sensitive hearing, you’ll get used to all of the city noises like I did incl. trains and ambulances down JFK at 3am and be able to sleep through all of it even with the windows open. If you have the choice I would take a northern facing unit for a bit of less train noise, some partial views of NYC and no big buildings blocking the light or views.

hey sorry to disturb you again, do you know this verizon white glove service, they connected me with David who handles the verizon stuff. Does this come at an extra cost? what exactly is the process going to look like- I will need just the wifi plus ethernet for the 500mbs 69.99$ plan- is going through David going to cost extra ?
