Earlier today my husband and I ran across a yellow lab that had gotten loose in Newport and was running in/out of the road. A group of us tried to help, but he was very much on the run and we ultimately lost track of him around Exchange Place.

Any chance someone might have an update?

I do believe that my husband and some neighbors helped with his recovery. If it’s the dog who escaped his post-neuter walk with the vet, he ran back to his apartment in Paulus Hook. He went right up to his gate. My husband and some neighbors got him inside the gate, gave him some food and water, and his parents returned right away.

How did he know how to get home? I don’t believe that.

Our dog knows how to independently get to Hound About Town for a pig’s ear. I don’t doubt this buddy could get home to where people weren’t cutting off his balls.

I saw a post on IG earlier where someone has found what looked like a lab. Hopefully it’s the same one and they’re working to reunite them with their owner.

The dog seemed to have escaped from Newport Veterinary Center if you are able to pass that info along, the staff was running all over the place trying to find him. I’m happy to reach out directly if you want to share the insta post, whatever is easier.

Good god. Imagine dropping your pet at the vet and this happening

I didn’t know the vets took them on walks…. Also if it was post neuter wouldn’t the doggy be too wobbly and sleepy from the anesthesia to run ?

Anyways not doubting the story, just curious and glad the dog is safe. I thought I was being paranoid when I sat at the coffee shop near my vet the whole time my dog had surgery recently in case something like that happened

My understanding is that the walk was to make sure he was sufficiently “back to normal” after the anesthesia. (But I, myself, am recovering from surgery and might be too loopy still to get the details correct!)
