It's better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.

Precisely. I believe they only accept transfers for sophomores and not juniors or seniors, but you should ask what the policy is. The problem is that you need to show them what has changed, and need some real Kick-Ass grades for the last year and this year, and probably need to take the PSAT again. You better be taking the most rigorous classes your school offers.

Mcnair doesn't take into account what classes you are taking in 9th grade as a transfer applicant. The psat is the most important aspect of the application.

Yes I took it this month and currently waiting for those scores to come this December

Then you need to watch the www.jcboe.org website for when they release the application. You need to stay on top of it and make sure your school counselor submits all of your documentation after you submit your application.
It's usually released in December/January. They have new people doing the application this year so it may be a bit behind.

That doesn't make sense, but that would be par for the course for JCPS. It's been like 7 years since my younger was applying but I seem to recall that there was a point system assigned for the test and grades and extracurriculars etc. It wasn't all just the test.

The test is the majority of the application. There is a point system for grades but it just inputs as Math grade or Language Arts grade. The sum of all course grades are less than what the PSAT is weighed.

Keep in mind only a handful of people get in as sophomores. I think there were only 4-5 sophomore students accepted when I was there.

You can, but are you sure you want to? It's an insane amount of work and stress compared to the other elite high schools. Two of the smartest teenagers I know transferred out after freshman year because the school was making them miserable. (Although that does mean spots open up for sophomore year, if you're determined)
