Anyone else dealing with this USA labor shortage at your place of employment? Feeling burned out because the company doesn’t have enough employees?

Rent went up a lot this year and inflation was high. The rat race continues - to get a promotion at work and to battle these higher costs of living. And of course a promotion may lead to more work-related stress. Anyone have any tips to fight through this period of inflation, constantly chugging along at work to try get that promotion, and on achieving a better work/life balance in general?

There is no labor shortage, there is a wage shortage. If you increase your wages, you'll have a line out the door to work.

Get a new job. If you're currently underpaid and there's no work/life balance it won't improve with a promotion.

Edit: also now is a decent time to look, jobs in NY have to post salary ranges starting tomorrow.

Promotions are harder to come by than new jobs.

My advice is to switch your place of work , much easier to increase salary that way

There’s a huge shortage of skilled labor. Good luck finding a licensed plumber or electrician for a smaller job. There’s not nearly enough people in those industries, and the numbers are shrinking as most are aging and few enter.

You need a liberal arts major, yea there’s 100k of em for every job posting.
