What new spot does the heights need that’s currently lacking? To really make it a stand out neighborhood. Restaurants, grocery, retail, bar, etc.

this is the biggest thing fr. or at least make the buses not suck total dick, or have some smaller shuttles that go to downtown.
man anything to get more buses off of Congress St, it's a real pain sometimes especially when they're all trying to get onto Paterson Plank.
Clean streets
This should be #1 the place is filthy
A reasonable grocery store
Public Transit
This is the answer. I don't live in the Heights, but there are some spots that look very cool. Fuck me if I can figure out a good way to get to them.
Protected bike lanes.
A brewery w/ a courtyard would be nice.
LoFi has a nice back yard and a decent beer selection.
Personally I feel lofi quality of food/drinks has dropped. Last summer/spring I was in the backyard area, the seats and greenery was not kept up.
Nothing because I don’t need my rent going up
This is the correct answer, if you want all the other crap on this list move downtown
Just pop some shots to keep the rents low
Doesn’t do the trick anymore
A good Greek place and a good Indian place.
I go to Cumin N Eat in Secaucus. Money tika masala
I'll have to check it out. But, still not The Heights.
But they do deliver here ✨ Manchurian chicken is wild
Cool. Definitely will check it out.
Mona Souvlaki on Central looks like it's close to opening. Looking forward to trying it.
I walk by that place nearly everyday. I was getting worried because, once the neon went up, literally nothing was happened for at least 2 or 3 months. Started to wonder if it was ever going to open. But the last 2 weeks or so have been nothing but activity so it looks imminent. Looking forward to trying it
a dedicated night life.
I’d rather not have Trashford clones in the Heights. 512 Quantum Sound was an absolute shitshow every weekend before they started at closing at midnight.
This part is a culture problem - there's nothing inherently wrong with nightlife and a decent amount of people (like myself) are dying for REAL nightlife with real people enjoying real DJs playing real, good music. That gets ruined by the weird alcoholic booze culture people have going on around here.
How would you define night life?
A 🏳️🌈 bar

Kinda shocked there are no breweries in the heights
the original owners of Podewitz Deli.
Was missing electricity a few mins ago
more Citi Bike stations
People actually from there
like, ancestral hudson city originals?
Would love getting clarification too
Yes. People such as myself who grew up here. I’ve seen way too many fam and friends be priced out
I mean your parents / grandparents probably moved here too. Which is fine. Jersey City welcomes immigrants.
Curious what kind of people you're talking about
Starts with an M….ends with deprived
needs less for lower rent🙏🏻
Just move to the literal next neighborhood to the north then. What you are seeking already exists...
nah love the heights
Can you teach me how to build a Lego death machine
Legendary video
PATH tracks
Leave as is
More bars on the Western Slope. All the cool stuff is on the other side of Central.
Wine bar, which seems to be in the works.
A nice gym. A pilates studio.
Firehouse gym is opening soon. Idk how good it’ll be tho
Wine bar is definitely happening
The owners at riverview wines, right?
An old school pizzeria anywhere along Palisade. It's a pizza desert except for LoFi which I don't count.
?? Central Ave has multiple old school pizza joints and runs parallel to Palisades. How much pizza do you people need?
>How much pizza do you people need?
A lot, and close. At one point where I live in HP we had 6 slice joints within a 5 minute walk! If Delenio's doesn't reopen we'll be down to 3. Shudders....
There's bread and salt, but that's not especially old school
Correct. I'm talking plain old slice joint like is found almost anywhere else in town. There's at least 4 places to get spanish rice & beans plates along Palisade, but no pizza.
Renatos?
Not on Palisade. And if you're in the southern Heights, it's a real hike to any of the Central places. It's astonishing there's no pizza by Christ Hospital, you'd think that would be a slam dunk!
Yeah you’re definitely correct there. When you compare to downtown or Hoboken. There are very few pizza places in the Heights.
Rizzos

Parking
where are you located? I just counted like 19 free-to-use spots (all of which are utilized) on my short small block. hardly missing from the neighborhood.
now, safety features that aren't speed bumps...things like corner bumpouts....those are largely missing
More new apartment buildings.
An authentic/good east asian cuisine. I've tried many if not all the places here and all were very disappointing.
A few marijuana dispensaries
I should introduce you to my neighbor.
They’re coming! Signs everywhere
Oh I’m definitely aware, just being sarcastic, maybe I should’ve put luxury dispensaries
A poutine spot would be ideal. It’s such a good late night snack
AS IS
Transportation
An above average coffee spot would be nice.
Modcup?
Froth?
Griot?
Lil Dove?
A dispensary or some public art that doesn’t take room, like designs on buildings or street art
I feel like we have a decent number of murals, but yeah more public art is a good one.
>dispensary
Uforia is supposed to open soon.
Central Avenue SID website (to see what it has)
I’m aware of what it has. Just wondering what would make it better
Henry. Nothing was the same since Henry's got bought. :(
A doubles and bake shop.
Pilates / yoga studio. A proper coffee shop on Central
Griot
Heard good things about Sol Studio.
“Does anyone have suggestions on how to make the heights more expensive? I am very smart. Thanks!”
Go to Ohio, there's nothing there so you can live dirt cheap.
