I have a very basic haircut, scissor on top and 2-3 on the side. Same shit I've been getting for 20+ years now. Doesn't take Edward Scissorhands to satisfy this customer.

Any recommendations for a cheap haircut in downtown? Just had a bad experience with Great Clips so I'm in the market for a new spot that doesn't burn a hole in my pocket.

Consider getting a clipper and DIY. I also have a very basic cut and have been doing it myself for over 20 years. Think of how much money I've saved! Plus the hassle of not having to plan it and go out and do it. I just grab the clippers and warn my wife I'm going to ask her to do the line at back of my neck in 10 minutes.

5/8 on top and chin. Tapers around ears. 1/4 for sides and back. 3/8 for rest of beard.

Seriously, it's not rocket science. Give it a go, for <$30, how bad can it be that you can't get it fixed in a week?

I started doing this during the pandemic. I’ll still do it every so often if i don’t have the time to actually go to the barber and need a cut. My problem is lining up the back of my head. Need a barber who will charge me 5 bucks to line me up and not do anything else lol

Yeah, if you don't have someone handy to do the back line for you, you need a good triple mirror and a steady hand.

I like Balkan Barber on Barrow by the pedestrian plaza. The apprentice barber there, Eric, is a $30 cut and he does great work. Not sure how much cheaper it gets around here without getting into Great Clips or Supercuts territory, which in my experience are pretty universally poor.

Nino’s on Christopher Columbus. He’s a good guy. His prices are a Bit more than 20. Since rent increases.

I go to Solutions Barbershop on 2nd Street. M-W they offer a 25% discount for all men’s haircuts so instead of $40 it comes out to $30 (I normally tip 20% or so). I go there roughly once a month and I’ve been extremely pleased with the outcome each time. Takes around 30-40 minutes for my 1 fade on the side and scissor on top so it will probably be quicker for you. You can book appointments through the Booksy app.

I know you specifically asked for downtown, but great clips is the only place $20 and under downtown. Journal Square has a lot more options sub $20 (eg. just for men barbershop)
