The city doesn't want rent control because all that pocket greasing has to be paid for somehow. Where do you think all these Fulop campaign funds come from? They certainly aren't coming from the Portside Towers Tenant Associations. And therefore, Mayor Steven Fulop doesn't give a flying fuck about enforcing rent control for these folks.

Like Portside Towers itself which has a 30 year abatement,

Those buildings was one of the first in the area and help build downtown. Still it pays $3-4 mil a year.
