In what ways?

The bagels overall are much doughier with a better consistency. They also started grilling the cut sides for breakfast sandwiches which add a great flavor and texture. Eggs are much fluffier and bacon covers the entire sandwich.

I wouldn’t know I can’t stand in an hour long line to get a bagel

If you order for pickup on ubereats it takes like 6 mins. Skip the line and wait.

How is city bagel? Did it open yet?

Not open yet but they have a new sign! Seems promising

The bagels there are subpar to be honest. Bagels on Hudson are much better in comparison

Swimming-Rich-867 t1_j7d8ajn wrote

Bagels there are so-so. There are a few other good items. Jersey Ave location is favorite if there’s no line. Bergen ave location a close second.

The Sip Ave location really has gone downhill. Stale bread, incorrect orders, poor hygiene and soo much more going sideways there.

So... they finally caught up to the DT location.

I agree... their bagels are stale. Didn't know about the poor hygiene though. Eeek.

Not to bad mouth, but I got a piece of moldy bread on my SEC & almost had to fight for my money back- Sip Ave. That was my last visit there

Well they were C- bagels when I went in Nov, so it would be nice if they improved the recipe. Did they change since then?

I've always liked their bagels. It's just the ordering system that is aggravating. Some person taking your order and preparing it is archaic. One person designated to the register. One to taking orders. One for sandwiches. One for cream cheese. It's simple and efficient.

Jahooodie t1_j7eanb3 wrote

It also limits people touching money touching food, but who am I to judge

Organic-Hovercraft-3 t1_j7g3cwh wrote

No this is absolutely valid. They use gloves when touching the bagels but def saves time.

ebastoria t1_j7bd5il wrote

I agree - it seems like they changed their recipe since I moved here two years ago? More doughy/less dry bready.

I still cant understand the hatred people have towards wonder bagel.. their bagels are good their service is good and every time I'm in there ... it always crosses my mind that I should have moment to be part of the hate club but never get a reason too... can someone break this down for me???

Jahooodie t1_j7eb0we wrote

The bagels are just fine at best from the downtown location. Other locations are a bit better. Coffee's went downhill, prices have gone up. Cat was Narc'd.

It's a perfectly acceptable mid tier bagel, some people over hype what is a run of the mill local joint, some people feel we deserve better. Something something Suburban strip mall places have got us beat.

We didn't start the fire. It was always burning since the world started turning.

I've never hated the bagels there but: that's encouraging! A whitefish salad craving will be slaked in the near future

Fozziebear3 t1_j7dnfl2 wrote

That’s because they don’t sell PECs. Just THECs 😉

I ve felt the opposite. Lesser cream cheese , longer wait times and what used to fill me to the brim is now an easy finish.

City bagel is not open yet

Same goes for the location in the heights. Still not great but better. Unless I'm bugging

alexCinJC t1_j7cbf6e wrote

The delivery seems to be a lot faster on a Sunday morning, about 25 min these last 2 orders, delivered around 11am. The one on Central Ave. where I used to order would take an average of 20min longer on an ASAP order on Grubhub/Yelp.

And - they didn't screw up my order like the one on Palisades Ave. They sent me 2/3 of a tub of cream cheese instead of a full one and completely missed another tub. Called to complain and the manager refunded the order. But, won't take the chance of a ruined brunch.
