5G is underwhelming so far, zero reason to upgrade for 5G alone.

It’s only ever better outside in the select big cities that have mm wave.. until it’s actually better I’d say don’t upgrade just for 5G, it’s just a little bonus when you’re ready to upgrade the rest of your phone

5G drains the battery unbelievably fast compared to 4G/LTE. A lot of areas also doesn't have stable 5G.

5G has been in my city for a couple years. I don’t care.

Unless you download large files with unlimited data plans, or use your iPhone as hotspot for Macbook whilst traveling for work - I don’t see the need to upgrade. 4G works plenty fast for most handheld mobile operations.

The 5G in big cities (NYC) sucks. But the 5G in smaller cities (Connecticut) is blazing fast. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To upgrade the phone just for 5G…it’s not worth it.

Tell me just one use case, where you would benefit from 5G.

The one and only case I can think of where I’ve been thankful for 5G is a few times at the airport remembering that I want to download some Netflix episodes right before boarding.

another couple of years minimum for the 5G wave to settle in, plenty of time to wait and update.

5G availability is so patchy at the moment in the areas I frequent (and likely to be so for some time) that it is effectively an irrelevant factor in reasons to upgrade.

And even if this were not so, for most of my uses 4g is comfortably fast enough. So, saving money all round - no cost of upgrade, no increase in network cost. Excellent!

I have a 13 Pro and have 5G disabled. It’s not any faster than LTE for me and drains battery.

no it’s really not worth it. I had an 11 but i have a 12. anyways i turned off 5G on my 12 and i use LTE. it’s not much faster & it’s very inconsistent tbh. 5G drains battery more anyways

Only tempting if your provider has deployed C-Band Spectrum (n76, 77 and 78). Otherwise the speeds are the same as LTE, with less latency.

Great if you rely on mobile network for internet, then use hotspots for all other devices. It’s not so great if just for phone use…. If you already have decent lte or 4g.
