I am a proud owner of an iPhone 14 pro max (Black) that, unfortunately, while walking, my early morning walks got dinged right at the middle of the screen above the camera; (thankfully, non of the essential parts got affected)!

I have Apple-Care + on my ID, so I can easily change it, but here is the shocker that I may have known but forgotten about, the replacement iPhone is always going to be a refurbished iPhone, not a fresh new phone (similar to the ones that get sold in the showroom) + I am dealing with an authorized reseller; not the actual Apple Store.

So I would appreciate your help in a particular scenario. Is it a VERY BIG DISADVANTAGE IF I TOOK THE REFURBISHED iPhone that they will give me, or stay with my DINGED IPHONE until a more painful thing happens to my phone

I would love to read people's thoughts.

I’d need a pic of the damage on the 14 pro max, but refurbished phones aren’t really that bad. They have a new battery, screen. The wiring in there might not be brand new but you don’t need it to be.

I cannot take a pic right now because I am responding to you from it, but it's literally right above the speaker grill.

You are getting a new phone, lol. It’s a rear system / rear housing replacement, which is a brand new housing, logic board, battery. They keep your original display (if possible), speaker, and camera.

I wouldn’t worry about getting a refurb from Apple. They’re know for quality. Yes they overcharge for everything, but refurbished phones from them will always look and work as new.
