I’ve never faced this issue with any iPhone, ever.

Even when doing the most trivial tasks such as browsing Reddit/ instagram causes my iPhone heat up significantly.

My iPhone 13 Pro or my iPhone 12 were never like this. I use my phones to take videos and the only time they got heated up was when I played games, or took videos.

But now with this iPhone even if I am on a FaceTime call for 5 mins , or watching YouTube videos it’s so hot and takes forever to cool down.

Is anyone else going through this ? Should I bring this phone to the Apple Store ?

I am beginning to think it has something to do with 5G.

I also tried doing a hard reset, using iTunes but didn’t help.

EDIT: This happens during charging my phone as well, and this just makes me want to leave the phone… it gets seriously uncomfortable.

Heat while charging (esp. fast or wireless charging) is normal and expected.

I don’t experience any unusually irregular heat otherwise on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Though, I do have a case on, so I wouldn’t really know.

I don’t like to put cases :( but I guess I’ll have to do it… I can’t help but think that heating is causing the battery life to degrade faster

That is true. High temperatures do degrade lithium ion batteries faster.

I never experienced that, even when recording 20+ minutes of video on my 14 Pro Max... But I do not use 5G since the price and coverage isn't worth it where I live. Try asking a friend for a regular 4G sim and test the same activities to rule it out.

A “4G SIM” is a misnomer. A SIM card just authenticates you to the network, it does not provision 4G / 5G. You don’t need a “5G SIM” to access NR.

OP can disable 5G in Settings if their carrier’s carrier bundle allows for that. Cellular Data > Voice & Data > 4G

You’re right, I didn’t know you could disable 5G from the phone, I thought you had to ask your network provider. I meant as in “test with a sim that has 4G and not 5G enabled” Thank you for the info!

I don’t have a SIM card slot in my phone hahaha.. feels so weird to say that now.

But, I’ll try disabling 5G and see how it goes .

But I am surprised, because I do record for extended periods of time on my iPhone 14 pro and it always gets HOT.

To be honest I’ve tried long recording sessions 3 times only, and sure it gets warm but not hot to the point you described.

I’m going to bring it to the Apple Store soon to see if they agree

How long have you had the phone for? The first couple days it can get hot because it’s downloading all your apps and stuff from iCloud in the background
