You can search for these questions instead of making an extremely low effort post.

It's a good phone.

It's big. Is big a flaw to you? It doesn't have a telephoto camera. Is that a flaw for you too?

The Pro Max has a slightly larger screen.

Same size screen as the Max. It’s a fine phone but some people may be better off with the Pro Max. If it’s what is in your budget for a new phone and you simply want a big screen, solid battery life and great cameras and don’t want something as heavy as the Max it’s a good option.

I know right! Posts like this just clutter the subreddit because you can’t search for generic questions.

Is the 14 plus a good phone? -One of the best camera systems, CPUs, GPUs etc. What does “good” mean?

Does it have any flaws? -Define flaw? Does it burst into flames, does it have post-processing on images some people don’t like?

Is the screen the largest version or does the pro max have a larger screen? -If only their website let you compare them… https://www.apple.com/iphone/compare/?modelList=iphone-14-pro-max,iphone-14-plus,iphone-14-pro

I checked the website, as well as other publications. Even went as far as too watch some YouTube videos on the subject. However, I wanted to hear from people that actually used the phone/interacted with the phone. My apologies if I hurt your delicate sensibilities by posting a simple question. I just wanted a simple answer. I didn’t realize how offended you iOS birds can get if something isn’t to your liking.

It’s an alright phone, but the 13 Pro Max can be had for about the same price and is the better phone in just about every way.

Yeah I’m sure it is. I have the 12 pro max, but long story short I have to switch carriers and I can’t bring my 12 pro max. The carrier is having a promotion on basically all phones except the pro models. That’s why I’m gonna have to go with the 14 plus. It’s pretty much the same size, but the pricing isn’t— in this instance.

I was upgrading from an 8 to a new phone. The Pro Max was not available and had a considerable back log wait. So I opted for the 14 Plus. I have been extremely happy with it, am not missing anything that only the Pro offers. It paired well with my watch ultra and AirPods Pro.

So what if I’m not elite with a Pro Max? I’m happy.

The slightly larger screen is virtually imperceptible and in no way should used to differentiate the phones. It comes down to if you want/need high refresh rate, more cameras and if you don’t mind the weight of the Max etc.

I maybe wrong, but unless you’re in dire need of the super specs that the pro offers. I think the plus is just as good. Like I mentioned before, I had a 12 pro max and in my personal experience it didn’t do “wonders for me”. I just got it because I like the big screen. So now that they have a big screen iPhone I don’t think I’ll ever need to by a pro again unless something in the future requires me to own a pro. Thanks for your input. Very helpful by the way.

Honestly the two phones are so similar I don’t think there’s any point upgrading unless you’re quite literally getting the phone for free. You could argue in fact that the 12 Pro Max is actually the better phone out of the two.

I’d stick with the 12 and go with a sim-only plan. Not much point going with a 14 Plus unless you’re upgrading from something older like a 7 or 8 Plus.

I actually wanted to do that, because it’s a great phone and I don’t want to change it. I don’t really want to get into the whole story, but it’s much cheaper for me to switch carriers and get a new phone. The 12 pro max is sim locked to a different carrier and they won’t unlock it. I can in fact get the iPhone 14 pro max, but I really don’t need all of those crazy features nor do I need the the price increase. I just like the big screen.

Really the main issue with the Plus is that it’s dreadfully expensive for what it is. Besides that it’s an entirely competent phone.

If it was my money I’d look into unlocking again. Most companies have fairly lax policies nowadays if the phone has been paid off, especially if you have an account with the company.

I like mine, I don’t think I could say a bad thing about it. I don’t really feel like I’m missing anything not having used the dynamic island or really having a need for a top of line camera.

Unfair-Salt1339 OP t1_j67t7ln wrote

Yeah they make sense and I’ll look into it, but if I go the pro max route I’ll get the 14 because I’d the dynamic Island on the screen looks really cool. I’ll know for sure what the best promotion is and go that way. Thanks for the heads up!

It depends. I had a Plus, ended up passing it to a family member and getting the Pro Max, so I have some comparison.

The Plus is lighter, no real flaws that I can tell. Takes decent pictures, is a solid phone all around. Great battery life.

The Pro Max is the flagship, has the newest and best (newest chip, dynamic island, better cameras..) you have to look at your own use case / personality and decide from there. If your old phone performed well enough for you already, and you’re in the market for a smaller upgrade which isn’t groundbreaking, go for the Plus.

If you, like me, are prone to FOMO, want the best for the sake of having it and can afford it, need the features or find a good deal on the Pro Max in s configuration you want, go for it. Also if you keep your phones for a longer time, as the A16 chip will be supported for longer than the A15 in the Plus.

Hope I could help a little with my 2c.

It will get supported for longer by Apple. As in, will get Updates longer, because it’s newer. Though to be fair, the A15 will get supported for a while yet, too- to judge by Apples excellent update policy.

I’d say only go for the plus if you’re on a tight budget or if you want a lighter phone to the pro max.
