So I just bought my first ever iPhone on ebay from a big seller here in Germany for 590€. The seller wrote that the battery is at 100% capacity (which it is). And the phone is also in very good condition. However right after I booted the iPhone up and upgraded to the newest iOS version (16.1), the system tells me with a notification that it can't verify whether the screen is an original apple display. After checking for the "True Tone" feature, it indeed is not there. So I come to the conclusion that the seller probably repaired the iPhone with a non-original display and a new battery. I don't worry too much about a new battery, but the display is something I worry about.

Would you keep the iPhone? I am thinking about sending it back, but the 590€ was indeed a great price for the iPhone 13 mini (128 GB, midnight black).

No, I wouldn't. I would send it back and order another one, with a original display.

By comparison, how much is an authentic new iPhone 13 mini? Can't really answer the question without knowing how much you're saving by buying the refurb.

So I just checked and a new iPhone 13 mini at 128 GB would cost 750€ here in Germany. So about a 150€ difference. Might not seem much of a difference, but I am on an university student's budget.

Send it back before you find more problems. Not a good deal if it does not work properly.

Auto brightness won't work either.
