Don’t tell Apple that it happened before you bought AppleCare.

[deleted] OP t1_iybbism wrote

Yes I will take care of that. I imagined that it was okay because I “really had an option”

Jusy wait a few days before sending it… give it a few weeks before you claim apple care… just to be safe

Thank you. I’ll wait about a week then.

Am I supposed to hide that part?

Doing that and using it to make the claim is insurance fraud, people do that but if they're caught it is illegal.

Come on

I already paid more than it’s worth. But I’ll take care about mentioning it. Thanks 😎

Insurance fraud is insurance fraud, it's not something Apple determines but federal law does (and many other countries' laws)

That isn’t fair to the people who buy apple care+ legitimately before they have damage.

You are causing the price to go up for everyone because you are buying insurance as a discount to buy after-the-fact. You are supposed to buy it before anything is wrong, and only use the Apple Care if something happens after that point.

So sorry I made people aware that life’s not fair.

Life is pretty fair, in this instance. Because you bought AppleCare+ pointlessly. You were hoping for an unqualified repair.

The AppleCare+ terms state that it does NOT cover:

h) To repair pre-existing conditions of the Covered Equipment if you purchased the Plan after you purchased the Covered Equipment;

So no coverage — unless you choose to lie.

I’m sorry if it hurts your ethics. But I really don’t have that much amount to spent. So I will lie.

I’m assuming he’s still in that window where he still has the option to buy coverage since it’s a new phone or else he wouldn’t of had the option to get coverage

Like don’t they give you 3 months or something? I just got a desktop and it says I have X more days until I can no longer get Apple Care coverage for jt.

I’m not saying it’s ethical….but I think I’d let him slide for this one.
