How to temporarily turn off the touch screen

Concise:

I am looking for a way to temporarily turn off the touch screen on my iPhone 13 so that it will not accidentally be commanded unintentionally.

Detail:

I walk 2.5 miles daily. I usually play a video on YouTube of at type where the content is mostly in the audio. From time to time I need to pause the video to pay attention to things going on around me or chat with people I pass.

Frequently the action of pulling the phone out of my pocket will give an unintended command to the touch screen. This usually starts a different video and sometimes exiting the browser. Is there a command that will disable the touch screen but continue to play the video until one of the buttons is used to re-enable the touch screen?

I have seen YT videos refer to this but I do not know if this provides what I want. I am only using one app and that is the one I do not want to command while continuing to play. I am also not encouraged by the number of commands needed to turn it off or on.

Enable

Triple tap power button to turn on.

Disable

Double tap power button to turn off via Face ID

Or Triple tap power button to bring up the disable screen, then hit the power button again.

It saves your settings from the previous session so you don’t need to fiddle with the setting each time.

It takes almost literally a single second to either enable or disable GA.

I do not understand. Guided Access does not disable the touch screen. The touch screen still works! I can still interrupt the playing of a video by touching the screen.

When you go to disable - or enable guided access for the first time an overlay shows. One of the options will be literally options on the bottom left.

Tap that and then you’ll see a new screen with a bunch of toggle switches on the bottom. One of them will be called Touch. Disable this and then touch is disabled.

I say this because I use it all the time for my kid but the options should keep the same for each guided access session. So you shouldn’t need to be going into options each time - only enabling and disabling as I mentioned in my previous.
