I like the feature, but took a look at iPhone settings to turn it off. Did not find any. This feature happens with my non-Apple podcast app Downcast too, so don’t think it is Apple Music exclusive. It is probably a car feature.

I would suggest turning off Bluetooth from now on and use it when you need it. Don't know the solution about plugging in though. I personally like the feature, especially when I remote start my car, it already starts playing music when I approach it.

I hate this as well. Also periodically happens when I put in my ear buds. Starts playing iTunes and I don’t want to listen to iTunes. Sometimes it doesn’t.

Yup. Apples integration makes a lot of assumptions. Like others have said, I have to leave Bluetooth turned off, until I want to use it

Would love a proper fix for this as well. My solution was to delete Apple Music and all audio files on the phone. We always laugh when my wife's phone plays some Foo Fighters mp3 every time she plugs in, but it's super annoying. The breaking point for me was when it burned my entire monthly data plan streaming Apple Music. The car's speakers were playing the radio, so we didn't even know it was happening.

Doesn't happen in my car (Hyundai) over Bluetooth, only USB.

Settings > Bluetooth > info icon for your vehicle > Device Type - if it’s set to Car Stereo, change it to Speaker

This was my fix in iOS 14, not sure if it still works, but the auto-play when connecting to my vehicle’s Bluetooth never returned
