Any recommendations for the paid apps?

Can you tell us what you're trying to achieve that File Explorer copy/paste or the built-in camera import tool can't do?

You can use the Files app, or just connect directly with your PC and use the normal file transfer. You can only transfer the pics in the picture roll. Pictures that had been previously added via iTunes cannot be transferred this way.

iMazing is paid program but it’s great. You can try their program for free to test it.

Usually, I install iTunes from the Microsoft Store because it includes drivers that mostly prevent that from happening.

I would use another cloud service like google drive, google photos, one drive, etc. Free and they work well. It's not 2005 anymore. Stop connecting your phone to your computer with a cable.

Cloud storage adds an unnecessary step. Why would I willing stop using a method that for all intensive purposes is faster to waste time uploading? That’s like saying stop charging with a cable because we have wireless charging. Its inefficient

Disagree I think your way is less efficient. I don’t have to do anything. I take a picture it’s automatically uploaded to the cloud. It’s automatically available on all my devices. I dont have to worry about losing pictures because my device is damaged. You have to go find a cable. Plug it in both devices and then manually copy stuff. What if your phone is lost before you can copy your photos? My way is automated your way is manual.
