I don't get the Apollo hype. They layout is actually worse than the regular Reddit app imo

That’s up to personal preference for sure, I found the official Reddit app to get more and more worse when it comes to layout as time went on. Not to mention viewing media (as in videos) is really wonky in the official app as of my experiences, especially as someone who commonly saves posts a lot. I like the gesture based upvotes and replying too, reduced a lot of screen clutter. Also it hides comments of people you blocked instead of it showing “[Blocked User]” all the time allowing you to see their text anyway, kind of defeating the purpose of the block feature. Especially when you use it to block nasty bigots.

Only thing I wish Apollo had which it doesn’t, is Drafts. I have not replied to some people because I typed a whole comment only for the app to close or something else and while it can recover the text.. sometimes it hard to ever find posts again.

I'll give you the video portion. That's awful on the default Reddit app. I still paid for Apollo so I can support small devs

I suppose for someone who uses Reddit a lot, it probably makes the experience better. I personally can't stand scrolling on my phone and seeing all these repetitive ads, and I know Apollo would get rid of the ads, but like you, I'm not a fan of the layout, so I stick with the regular app and deal with stupid ads.

That’s crazy man I can’t stand that garbage Reddit app. Apollo beats it by miles with an engaged developer consistently and constantly trying to enhance it.

You can personalize the layout.

Personally, the only thing the Official Reddit app is good for is Chat or opening reddit links from outside Apollo when I'm way down the queue and don't want to lose my place.

And if Apollo gets chat functionally, the only time I'll be opening the official app is from external apps when this shit site refuses to let me see more comments it in browser

I know. But I don't want to potentially lose my place where ever I am. Most times, I just leave Apollo open, but sometimes I need an answer to a question and I don't always expect it to be on reddit.

This never work for me. It always opens in the default app. What am I missing? I follow the instruction video located in Apollo settings.
