Go to the game on the app and I think up to 6-7 hours before the start of the game you can click the 3 dots in the upper right and click start live activity. I used it for NFL so far. Right now none of the noon college football games have the live activity shown hmm..

Some games don’t seem to have this option. Do you need to turn it on before the game start??

Nope, bc there is a hockey game on now and u can still add it. I think it’s certain games like college football that has no options for it

As an update, there is a NHL, NFL, and Premier League game today. Within the next 6 hours there is only the NFL and Premier League game, but only the NFL game gets the live activity. WTF!?
