What does this have to do with anything Op is asking?

500 dollars?
You expect this to cost 500 dollars?

In the US, if OP doesn’t have applecare+, Apple will charge either $349 (back glass only) or $449 (back glass & camera). With applecare+, it’s either $29 or $99. See here for pricing: https://support.apple.com/iphone/repair
Worst case, add tax and it’s probably close to $500.
PeterPuck99 t1_iuhogal wrote
Apple estimate for screen is $279, so that would be the worst case.
Simon_787 t1_iuhqzkf wrote
That's a complete ripoff.
The back glass literally costs dollars and yet it's way more expensive than a screen replacement.
justaspareace t1_iuhuiwt wrote
It’s mainly bc of the labor required to change it. Most of them have to be taken apart by hand, heating up the glass and then chipping everything off. It’s a long fix.
Simon_787 t1_iuhwhrb wrote
The labor consists of pulling off the old pieces and gluing on the new part.
This guy did it on YouTube and Samsung estimates 88€ for a back glass repair on my S21 Ultra, which is much more in line with what I would expect (the device is also built differently, but it doesn't make up for the $360~ difference lol).
$449 for a back glass replacement on a 13 Pro is ridiculous.

Back glass is about 100 dollars more.
Marathalayan t1_iui741s wrote
To replace the back glass almost the whole phone needs to be assembled again after taking apart if m not wrong. That’s really lot of work and the glass itself is of a much better quality than other brands. Also, the service ensures waterproof once again. You can have it replaced locally outside apple but then the risk stays
Simon_787 t1_iui8v4w wrote
No it's not, I literally just linked a video showing it.
Samsung glues the displays to the midframe in a very similar way, but on their phones you usually replace the screen together with the whole midframe. That essentially means transplanting all the old parts into the new body.
And even then you can buy a Samsung screen and battery kit for $168 and Samsung "screen module replacement" pricing is $199 for a base S21.

Tbh i never advert for anything but if theres one Brand i can actually say for sure is good quality and has protected my phone form AAAAAA LOT of falls is Caudabe.

I live in france so the shiping makes it cost about 50euro total instead of like 20 but god damn it is worth it. Good quality, material of the Sheathe feels really great in hand and isnt slippery. Doesnt make the phone too bulky and saved my 13pro max and already saved my 14pro max many times

Again, not everyone wants to DIY. Not everyone has the skills and time to DIY. Parts of most electronics are reallly cheap compared to the whole device price. But a layman cannot simply suddenly start repair it.
Simon_787 t1_iuifsw5 wrote
I literally never suggested that, so not sure what point you're trying to make here.

Nice pattern.
SpicyPepperMaster t1_iuja1ud wrote
Apple doesn’t actually replace the back glass, they just give you a new rear housing which is why it costs so much.
The iPhone 14 has a new design that doesn’t suffer from that.

the lenses seem okay.... if you don't wanna fix it (500+ dollars) stores can apply some film to prevent more glass falling off...
