i have a 14 pm. my face id only works about half of the time. this is my first iphone so idk if it’s normal, but it seems like most people love face id and don’t generally have issues. my bf has a 14 pro and he says his works flawlessly always and even so before he upgraded from an XR. i’ve turned off the setting to require attention and have reset my face id multiple times in different lighting and with and without makeup. it also never ever works with a mask or sunglasses, despite my best attempts. i’m sick of resetting it because it logs me out of a lot of my apps. what gives??

Maybe only need half a face replacement since it works half the time. Vertical or horizontal though that’s a tougher one.

My suggestion is to setup FaceID with makeup, add an alternate appearance without makeup so see if that helps

Try setting your face as Face ID on your BFs phone and see if it works. Likewise, get your BF to set Face ID on your phone. See what works.

If your face on his phone works, and his face on your phone doesn’t work, then the problem is your phone and you can take it to Apple for repair/replace.

Otherwise, still take it to Apple and get them to troubleshoot.

The mask setting is hit or miss. I’d recommend just turning it off. I found when wearing a mask that I’d have to tilt my head forward and have the phone pointed directly at my face for it to register.
