The topic is the question.

Was wondering what would be the fastest method, without the use of touch on the main screen but button or something similar on the edges that can sense the area of pressure to indicate it's a screenshot action. (Power on/off, change volume, and other important quick tasks as well)

Replacing the volume rocker and or power buttons with something more that could not sacrifice the mechanical redundancy needed but at the same time could do more than just be three buttons.

Things to consider:

-press point is usually two units. Can it be reduce to a recognizable area?

-energy efficient?

-light emiiting? controlled?

-kind of surface? pixel type feel?

  • add 1

  • add n

_ more dependable than current option and also not sacrifice the current redundancy functions

I’m not sure if I’m misunderstanding the question, but you can already take a screenshot with one thumb utilizing AssistiveTouch

Can you provide context as to the “why”? What is the actual problem you’re trying to solve? If you’re asking people to consider “energy efficiency” in relation to a mechanism for taking a screenshot with one physical button, it sounds like a needlessly over engineered solution.

The buttons you’re referring to already do more than one function. The button that turns the device on is also used to activate Siri. The buttons used to control volume are also used to take pictures. Together, these buttons take screenshots, power down the phone, etc.

The fastest method is for there to be a dedicated, physical screenshot button.

If you needed to do one-thumb screenshot taking with existing hardware, my solution would be to use the power/Siri button with a click-long hold press (imagine the same method for bringing up a card for ApplePay but the second click is held until the screenshot is taken.

in addition to what the other poster said, you can also set the double tap on the back of the phone to take a screenshot.

I don’t think it’d be useful for me. I don’t have a thumb face.

😅 Sorry. I have edited my question. Please have a look.

Thumb face was from the reference of; if the mechanism could somehow recognize it being a more of a flat surfaced press rather than a tap.
