Spigen case I see lol. I would assume an extremely high grit count polish would help but mine always stayed slightly dulled after time.

Lol. You should have used a rear screen protector.

Have you tried with a disinfecting wipe like Clorox or something? I’ve had good success in the past with those and they’re recommended by Apple

el_redditero12 t1_je0uzft wrote

Obviously those wipes won’t do anything for the scratches, but I had the Samsung equivalent of your case and it’s left the same oily residue on the back of my S8. Those go away with some soapy water or a Clorox wipe

I used to own the Jet Black 7 Plus and I put it in a SwitchEasy Glass case which was designed for it. The high gloss of the Jet Black’s back case is a super fingerprint and scratch magnet so once you have those case marks or micro scratches on it, there’s no way to polish it out.

Sorry, no. I am in Europe and Clorox isn’t available here, so I use whatever local equivalent I have around the house. Currently using the store brand ones from Aldi. I seem to remember I used to use the yellow ones when I lived in Canada, but I’m not sure. These guys also seem to allude at the yellow wipes.

Get a automotive cleaner wax. Use a small amount on a microfiber cloth. Do not get any in any ports or holes. I did my neighbors and it looked really nice.

I really miss this one! It was the best design imo.

Wish we could have that design with the fulls screens without bezels that we have today.

Sadly it's an aluminum thing. It happened to all iPhones with aluminium design

I believe the reason is UV exposure or something related to heat, and since those cases have some kind of pores/dints/holes, you basically end up with stains

TypicalJeepDriver t1_je143nw wrote

That’s simply not true. You can polish any sort of glass, plastic or paint with a high enough grit.

OP, I have done lots of automotive paint and plastic restoration. It’ll take specialized tools like a drill, polishing pad and a high grit compound but you can make it look new again. If that doesn’t work, you could try 3000 grit sand paper and wet sand it. Then polish those scratches out with a compound.

It’s a lot of work for something that is going to look like that again after you put another case on it though.

I always thought it was a southern thing because when I moved from the north east of the us to tx the amount increased the further I went, was not expecting it to be from Germany of all things

Try wax paper first. If it doesn’t work, oh well

I don’t know why people were obsessed with jet black lol…it got scratches so easily…even if you are one those “it’s just a phone, it’s meant to be used” type of people, it’s still too visible.

Your mobile phone is the bright black of iPhone7plus, because of its back glass material, it is very easy to be contaminated with fingerprints and oil stains and other things. You can try wiping it with an alcohol swab

I would try car compound and polish.

Disclaimer, I don't know if it will work, it works on car's perfectly, not sure about phones

There are a lot of suggestions on the net for that. I have tried them all pretty much and none of them last long. The only one worth a damn is make a paste of baking soda and sparkling water. About 2 tablespoons of each. Wash your case really well with dish soap first then with a cheap toothbrush scrub the paste mix on the inside and outside of the case. Put a good layer on it and let it sit 10 minutes. Then rinse it off really well. Dry it completely. It will look better. I gave up on clear cases. None of them stay clear.
