Your telephoto sensor looks like it could be damaged/failing. Take it back to Apple and get it swapped out for a new handset.

but it doesnt happen when i use it on 3rd party apps like Snapchat and tiktok
SmartPipe3882 t1_javk02j wrote
I don’t know that those apps are switching between the sensors or just digitally cropping the 48MP wide sensor.

Although, sometimes it doesn’t happen. Could it be caused by the camera lense protector? Or a software issue (don’t think this happened before I updated to iOS 16.3)
SmartPipe3882 t1_javldc8 wrote
It’s not a lens protector, and the only software issue it would be is the phone catastrophically missing it’s white balance. If its doing it consistently, and after you’ve reset the phone, it’s probably a hardware issue.

okay, thank you!!!

Snapchat uses main camera lens for zoom. Try Instagram/Messenger, they use the telephoto lens.

Well sometimes the iphone doesnt switch (even in the camera app) to the 3x lens. Usually in low light situations.
