You probably can't.

Yeah I found that page. I've tested it and if the lights are on the display stays on. If I turn the lights off within 30 seconds the display is off.

It’s not magic, the AOD just turns off when you enable the sleep focus.

Annoys me a lot too, especially searching for this problem just shows results of people wanting to disable the AOD..
