No that way it's just a link and you will need to pay again. Make an iCloud for the kid add it to family and turn on share purchases

If they are paid apps, you will need to sign into the App Store with the Apple ID that bought them to download them onto your other device or else pay for them again.

OR set up an Apple ID for your son to use on the other device and incorporate that into iCloud Family and use app sharing, but this won’t get you around certain kinds of in-app purchases.

Ahhh that’s a pity, but thanks for the clarification. I don’t want to link my work phone with my private phone; I don’t even know if the company policy allows that, but I will see what I can do.

The phone isn’t the issue. It’s the account. You can transfer Apple accounts between phones and even run one account on multiple devices. And redownload the application. Or even restore from a back up of the phone that has them now.

But if you purchased the kids applications on your work account you are probably SOL. Use your own own personal account for personal applications. I would set up the kid with an account and family sharing. You can then be notified of purchases and use parental controls on their devices.

If there are no in-app purchases involved, or not so many that you’re not okay just rebuying them anyway, then iCloud Family setup with the two Apple IDs is probably easiest.

Also take a look at setting up a child Apple ID and setting up Screen Time on a child’s device. Particularly managing content and privacy controls.

I think someone on a different comment shared a guide for what you need to do for family sharing which is the best bet. But your Apple ID account is not locked to your phone number. You can be authenticated on multiple devices (phones, tablets, watch, computers, AppleTV) you would go into the settings and then the accounts and sign in with the correct Apple ID. You will just need to sign out from what ever ID it was running from before.

On your iPhone, go into settings, tap your name at the top, go to family sharing.

Create a child account for your son.

Erase the iPhone that will be your son’s, and then sign into it with his new Apple ID.

In his App Store app, Tap the profile icon in the top right and find the previously purchased apps from your account.

If the apps don’t appear then you may have to tweak the settings in your family sharing.

As others have mentioned, if the apps use some shady in-app purchases then these may not be transferable, but if it’s a ’paid app’ then this shouldn’t be a problem.

For reference, the first page asks for the details of my son, like name and birthday and then in the next screen I need to verify my own identity. I cannot get past this screen.

I logged in online via web browser and corrected some of my data, which I saw was outdated (expired credit card). Then I restarted my phone. However, it’s still not working.

I contacted Apple via chat and they were not able to solve it, so they asked me to contact customer support via phone call.
