I intend to upgrade to a FaceID iPhone from my current SE 2nd gen. However, I am very skeptical about the notch, and I think it ruins the screen experience. Do you guys feel a bit annoying when using iPhone with notches? TIA.

Took me a minute to forget it was there.

It’s something you get used to. When I first got my iPhone X a few years back, it was the only thing I looked at (probably also because of all the branding and hype about it at that time). Within a few weeks I forgot about it and nowadays I don’t notice it.

It’s been 5 years and it hasn’t bothered me yet. I don’t even notice it.

No, it doesn't bother you at all. You'll get used to it real quick.

No. And I find the Dynamic Island somewhat useful even if it’s understandably underutilized.

Dynamic Island is the best, I tried using iPhone 14 Pro once and it's great (it's my friend's, not mine though 😂) maybe I'll wait for an iPhone 15 or purchase an iPhone 14 Pro.

I have the 14 Pro… maaaybe should have gone for Max but have never used a phone that big! There are plenty of apps that do not account for the dynamic island unfortunately and cut into the graphics. But it’ll get better.

The dynamic island isn't really different than the notch, and it's arguably worse because it intrudes further down into the display (resulting in a smaller display area for videos). As I've said before:

> IMO, the dynamic island is an incredibly fantastic sleight-of-hand way to distract attention away from the fact that the display has a huge hole in it. So, instead of people screaming about the ugly notch or hole, we have people simply talking about the dynamic island.

> Seriously, this is a brilliant move by Apple, and I’m in awe of what they’ve pulled off. It’s like the Emperor’s New Clothes.

I held off on a new iPhone with a notch for as long as I could due to my extreme hatred of it. Eventually had to give in because my job wouldn’t let me keep my 7 when it stopped getting updates and forced me into a 12 and the new SE wasn’t on our plan.

As others have said, you get used to it after a while. What helped me was switching to dark mode so the notch is less noticeable on most apps and using a screen saver that “hides” the notch by using something dark at the top of the screen. It’s been about 6 months and I’m still not sold but it’s not as bad as I thought it would be.

The vast majority of phone screens these days have some type of cutout, whether it’s an Android or an iPhone. I can live with it. At least on the 13 series the notch got a decent bit smaller so I find it less distracting.

I don’t even see it sometimes out of my peripheral vison

Doesn’t bother me, at all. I don’t even think about it or notice until someone posts about it.

Personally, I couldn’t imagine that the notch would be a bigger annoyance than the small screen and massive bezels on the SE2.

I think you should go for it. You’ll forget about the notch as soon as you experience the much fuller screen!

I would prefer that it not be there. But it's a relatively minor thing - not enough of a reason to nix a purchase. You'll probably not notice it (much) after a few days.

Bothering? Under no circumstances would I accept such a preposterous design, in an iPhone or an Android.
