The 14 Pro Max heats up just looking at it...

I haven't needed to buy any portable hand warmers this year, the phone is hot even on idle.

My 14PM almost never heats up unless I'm playing games on it for an elongated period of time. I would get the phone checked out.

Your phone definitely has a problem if it’s heating up when not doing much. Get it checked out by apple for sure then.
