What is this?

This is something that seemingly happens at random on iPhone. It’s happened ever since the early iPhones. Since then I’ve always just ignored it, but have no idea what to call it. Is this like an extra menu or something? Is there a way to change it?

It’s called “Reachability”. Can be turned off in Settings > Accessibility > Touch

When you swipe down at the bottom of your phone, it pulls it down. It was made so that you could reach the top of your phone one handed with the bigger phones.

Settings->Accessibility->Touch->Reachability

It’s for when you’re using your phone with one hand and can’t reach the top of the screen with your thumb. You swipe down on the swipe up bar
