In iOS you click the little "Aa" next to the address bar and it's one of the options in the drop down menu. Idk how it works on Mac but I'd be surprised if it's not something similar

Weird, both work for me (mobile Firefox and Bromite). Try reader mode in the browser. For paywalls I'd normally recommend https://12ft.io but it doesn't work here.
