I did the same thing, it's just not very sturdy. I left it like that and forgot about it, until just now.

These have had the grill/filter issue since they came out. Even mine popped out when trying to clean them. I think it’s more or less a problem with QC unfortunately 😟.

Mine was clogging up with earwax, which was causing awful channel imbalance. Ended up popping the grill in. Maybe they just didn't embed the grill that stiffly during manufacturing/designing. Shucks.

I'd get a new filter in any new moondrop iem... Moondrops QC is all over the place....
Hieri_Sato OP t1_j4agt0n wrote
Wouldn't you have to remove the previous filter to replace them though?
systemdick t1_j4ajryc wrote
the metal part yes, though you could maybe find a part somewhere.... hopefully
Hieri_Sato OP t1_j4ajw4s wrote
I took that out, cleaned them a little with alcohol and stuck them back in. I don't see anywhere that would sell a part that small.

Treble goes eeeeeeeeee
Hieri_Sato OP t1_j4ao7lt wrote
tbh the treble isn't bad with the filter off. *said by someone who had a DT770 pro*
coffeeismydrug_ t1_j4aoci7 wrote
You're now invulnerable to the treble, congratulations
JProllz t1_j4awmnu wrote
So the DT770s are some kind of treble vaccine huh?
Supahvaporeon t1_j4fcs5b wrote
Can confirm, had and adored the 770.
Now I have the Oracle MK2 and for a few days wondered why people didn't like the treble.
Hieri_Sato OP t1_j4jnf6l wrote
Imo, if you can handle the treble mound of the DT770s (or grados idk haven't tried them yet), you should be able to handle most of the treble thrown against you.
scrappyuino678 t1_j4ahvhp wrote
You could try getting them out with a toothpick, SIM card needle or any other small object, do it sideways though so nothing else falls in.
And yes you'll probably need to get a new pair of filters now (unless u can clean the current piece of filter without damaging the glue and stick it back on)

One reason I love my Etymotic Evo are that they are easy to clean and come with filters. Some day I’ll try Moondrop, but I hope I don’t have issues like this.
Hieri_Sato OP t1_j4jlvle wrote
Sadly the Moondrop chus doesn't come with replacements. So if you made a blunder like mine, you might need to replace it. I didn't because it was too fussy to wait another 2 weeks to replace it.
Mongoose-Lumpy t1_j4jrj65 wrote
I’ve been tempted by the Crinacle “Blessing2:Dusk”. They seem pretty close to the Evo, which I already love, but just different enough that I’d consider it maybe worth buying.
Hieri_Sato OP t1_j4js5zm wrote
I haven't tried them out yet, since they're a bit too far out of my budget range. But I've heard recommendations.
Hieri_Sato OP t1_j4ae5fz wrote
Tried cleaning using a Q-tip, I inserted it way too deep and the grill/holey-cap-thing is pushed into the housing. The IEM still works but i worry something might happen to it. What should i do to put them back?
Yes. I am stupid as hell.
